I am outraged by comments made today by a government official regarding the recently-passed Health Care Bill, known in the media as "Obamacare".
A House Democrat John Conyers was asked yesterday if the Health Care Bill is a "platform" for a universal Health Care system, his response was the following: he voted for the health-care law because he saw it as a necessary "platform" for building toward a single-payer health-care system in the United States. "Single-payer" is another word for socialized medicine.
This Health Care Bill is worse than what we currently have; this Health Care Bill will drive up costs of medical care even faster than if we did not have the Bill. In fact it already has driven medical care costs up in anticipation of its effects. This is not alarming to John Conyers and the rest of the government however; this is precisely what the government wanted to do in the first place! They wanted to pass this bill in order to create this scenario.
I predict the government will do the following: in the future once Obamacare has gone into full-effect, and when medical costs are much worse then what the country is experiencing today , the government will blame the much higher medical costs on the (few) free-market market forces which the government hasn't destroyed already. Making this assertion will be a bold-faced lie, but the government will tell the American public anyway. It will be a lie because the real reason the medical costs will go up is because of the government's Health Care Bill. The government will then proceed to push forward socialized medicine, and the American public will drink the Kool-Aid without any choice.
This is how government works - you give them an inch and they take a mile. The government planned Obamacare to do as I described above. John Conyers, in fact, says he voted for the Bill precisely after realizing that Obamacare, even with all its flaws, would be a platform to socialized medicine.
Although I may be outraged by Mr. Conyers comments, at least Mr. Conyers is being honest. However every American should take notice of these comments because this is the government "showing its cards": the statements from Mr. Conyers are pretty much telling the public that the government ultimately wants socialized medicine for America. What this will result in is the destruction of the existing free-market forces of our Health Care system that our country has enjoyed.
Young danyason, your learning! A national health care system is the ultimate dream of the majority of those who agree with the Liberal Philosophy. Democrats know it's a process that will take 10-20 years to accomplish.
ReplyDeleteSince when has the country "enjoyed" it's health care system? We have the world's most expensive health care system that puts us behind many other industrialized nations in terms of being any healthier then them. The US is #33 in infant mortality rates and #5 in life expectancy. Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland & Japan health care costs between $2,000-$3,000 a person a year. The United States health care system costs over $5,000 a person a year
I'm pro-Government health care. Critics love to show problems of national health care systems in other countries. We aren't other countries. We can institute a cost effective health care system that does not follow the mistakes of other countries.
John, thanks for the comment.
ReplyDeleteI may be learning, but the whole country needs to learn what is happening. Obamacare is being shoved down American's throats. It FORCES the American people to purchase health care - which, by the way, is completely unconstitutional. What will the government do next, force the American people to purchase cellphones and cellphone plans?
I'm willing to bet that a lot of this health care planning went on behind the scenes. The health care companies are in love with this, though they won't let the American people know. Think about it - what if you created a service that everyone of America's 300+ million people was required to buy? You'd be filthy rich.
You give statistics on what United States health care currently costs. Obamacare is going to make this cost worse! Look at today's headlines of health insurance companies increasing their rates in anticipation of Obamacare.
Having said this, why have 100's of major US corporations filed a waiver to be exempt from Obamacare? That's right - they don't want it because they understand its going to increase their expenses significantly for their employees' health care. These companies understand Obamacare makes their business less competitive because they have less resources to devote to expanding their business.
Simple. SUPPORT MEDICARE FOR ALL. All other industrialized countries are more compeditive because corporations
