Ron Paul came within 152 votes -- or less than 1 percentage point -- of beating out Michele Bachmann and winning the Iowa straw poll a few days ago. It was, in other words, a virtual tie. However you'd never know it from the way the national political press has reacted.
Ron Paul hasn't had much coverage on any of the major networks. The focus has been on Bachmann (who barely won the straw poll) and Rick Perry (who entered race just last week). I feel the media is scared to give Ron Paul the spotlight for a few reasons. First, they know he's right. I don't have to tell you this - check out videos of him speaking on Youtube. Check out his track-record. Admittedly, I don't agree with 100% of what he says. I think though his plans to deflate our over-blown government is what we need and this trumps those things I don't agree with him on. I do agree with his latest promotional video that he sets himself apart from the other candidates by not being a "smooth-talker" like them. The media fears him because he is against the "establishment" and everything it involves.
The media has been totally skewed in who they choose to cover for candidates. However with the Internet those who want to learn about and support Ron Paul do not need to pay attention to the mainstream media to understand what the man stands for.
I am not writing this post to declare my endorsement of Ron Paul. I will decide who I endorse in the weeks to come. Rather I wanted to make a point about how the media is ignoring him, like they've done in the past, when they don't want to acknowledge someone or something.
