Obama & Taxes

Someone today made a statement similar to the message conveyed in the video above.  They told me this:

"If elected, Romney proposes to reduce all individual tax rates by 20
percent: those currently paying at a 35 percent rate, for example, would
pay at a 28 percent rate (20 percent of 35 is 7)."

That's strange, I thought only 2% of the country was in the top bracket. so this makes a big difference only to the wealthy which is why the Dems keep saying.

And how will he pay for these tax cuts or do we just ad them to the debt like Bush did?"

That's strange, I thought Americans are paying 50 cents of every dollar to the government for taxes in one form or another? http://www.nowandfutures.com/taxes.html

That's strange, don't you think the top earners and entrepreneurs want to keep some of the money that they earned instead of it being taken by government force? That's strange, don't you think that these people want some motivation to continue working? And for those in the 35 percent tax rate that hire other people and create more jobs, wouldn't it make sense to allow these people to keep more of their money? That way, maybe they have more resources to expand their businesses thereby hiring more people and actually get us on the way to reducing the unemployment rate? The real rate of unemployment is more then 10%, after all http://www.zerohedge.com/sites/default/files/images/user5/imageroot/2012/08-2/Spread%20Implied%20Unemployment%20Rate.jpg

There is one group of people in the 35% tax bracket that I do not think should get "special" treatment by the government.  I do not think those people that have got to the 35% tax bracket BECAUSE the government helped them by bailouts, special tax incentives that other people do not get, etc should not get any special treatment from the government.  However this is not something that is expected of the government.  Until we are able to take the power away from the government to grant this sort of special treatment then it is likely to continue.

Obama has the problem all wrong.  Taxes are not the issue with our economy.  The issue is SPENDING.  Government spending is out of control and must be cut.  We need to free up capital for productive use, and in order to do this we need to reduce taxes, and in order to reduce taxes the best thing to do is to reduce government spending.
