I can see a two major reasons why Romney lost.
He tried to out-Democrat the Democrat. This has never worked in our nation's history. See Bob Dole, etc. If you have two guys who act like Democrats to choose from then the guy who actually calls himself a Democrat is going to win. This is what happened. I do see some political pundits in the media saying Romney was "too conservative" and that's why he lost. There is no way this Romney was "too conservative" and this made me laugh out loud when I heard it.
The situation in Europe/Greece. This has been diverting attention away from the US fiscal mess. Countries have been shunning the Euro to buy the dollar - which has made our currency stronger. I think once Europe gets their fiscal house in order - which they inevitably will - then the world will turn their attention to us and realize how bad of a situation our economy is. Remember, Greece did what the US did and has been doing, but Greece just did it at a smaller scale. And also remember, the difference between Greece's situation and ours is the Greeks don't have a printing press. The US does have a printing press. If you want to call this our "saving grace" I don't think those would be the right words, since putting us deeper and deeper into debt as the printing press has done in the long run ain't saving anything including our economy. However it has helped get Obama elected since our economy currently "appears" a lot better then it actually is.
