2016 Election: Hope & Change

Below are the issues I'd like to see the Presidential candidates discuss:

1.       Eliminate the IRS & eliminate Federal Taxes entirely.  Replace with a 10% flat tax on all goods and services purchased.  This tax cannot be raised without an 85% vote from Congress, 85% vote from the Senate, and the President’s signature.
Effects:

  • The people will have more time on their hands to pursue other things like growing their businesses.  From 2013, Congressman from Michigan stated: “The tax code forces Americans to spend over $168 billion to comply and 6 billion hours.”
  • This means no “loopholes” for certain companies that “get away” with not paying Federal taxes.
  • Prevents discrimination against people earning more or less money.
2.       Bring the troops home and stop the wars overseas.
3.       Decriminalize all drugs.  See my post here for this argument in light of the incidents around the country involving cops and our citizens.
4.       End Social Security.  See my post here.
5.       End Federal Student Loans.  See my posts here and here.
6.       No more corporate bailouts.  We create a moral hazard when money is provided to an institution with a record of failing.  Instead let the institution fail and the free market will sort it out.
